Equality & Diversity
We are committed to providing and maintaining an environment for staff and young people that upholds the principles of the Equality and Diversity Policy.
In all aspects of operations YP Quality Care seeks to operate in a manner that is equal and fair and commits to follow the codes of practice published by the Equality Act 2010.
These obligations protect people from discrimination, harassment, or victimisation on the grounds of:
- Age
- Disability
- Gender reassignment
- Marriage and civil partnership
- Pregnancy and maternity
- Race
- Religion and belief
- Sex
- Sexual orientation
The above are defined as “protected characteristics”, and YP Quality Care expects all staff to behave entirely within the law and will not tolerate inappropriate behaviour.
All staff undertake mandatory induction training that includes equality and diversity to ensure that all staff are suitably equipped to maintain standards expected. Training is refreshed on an annual basis, or more often should circumstances dictate.
On a practical basis we celebrate the diversity of our young people and promote and celebrate cultural awareness. We connect and liaise with local community and voluntary groups and places of worship. In the home we host cultural and food events within the homes to support young people in exploring and understanding the diversity of the community in which we reside.
